CIBC FUNDRAISING UPDATE!!!

Edited on: October 2, 2006

Well...WE DID IT!!! Even through the rain...and the chill...!!! We walked our 5 km and lived to tell about it!!! It was a great walk and for an amazing cause. It was emotional (reading about 'who' people were walking for...some survivors, some who sadly did not survive...) but inspiring to see all the people (14,000 participant at the Ottawa runsite) who came out to participate...I am glad we participated! Papa Jim even walked with us!!!! YAY!!!

AGAIN, We just want to thank EVERYONE who has supported us in participating in this event (especially through your donations to us)!!! So far we have raised $725.00 between us towards the CIBC RUN FOR THE CURE!!!

Please remember that donations will be accepted for this event online until October 31st!!!

Here is a picture of us at the end of our walk!!! Wooo hooo ... WE DID IT!!!

And last but not least I shoul mention...

...We hope Mama Chris enjoyed her BIRTHDAY brunch (compliments of Chef Brad) Chez O'Neil!!! Ummmmm Bacon and Eggs!!! Again... HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAMA CHRIS!!!!!

Diefenbunker Museum

On Sunday afternoon we took a drive out to Carp, ON and went on the guided tour of the Diefenbunker. We had a very enthusiastic guide Brian Jeffery who is a long time volunteer of the museum. It was very interesting and a highly recommended activity for those looking for something to do whether you live in the Ottawa area or if your are coming here to visit. The guided tour lasts just under two hours, but goes by very quickly.
Saturday we were supposed to go to friends of ours out near Belleville. Unfortunately, on Friday we heard that Amanda (the birthday girl) was not feeling well and suspected she was either down with the flu or had a case of food poisoning. :( We certainly hope she is on the mend by now and able to collect on all her birthday presents!!! Happy Birthday Amanda!!! Your present (shown below) now sits on our front step here in Ottawa!!!
Saturday was a day for inside stuff as it rained pretty much all day!!! This giving me the perfect excuse to sleep in!!! I did eventually wake to have some breakfast, but only to go back and have a short nap!!! Not sure what the heck Brad was up to during all of this, but when I woke up and went out to the garage to see what he was doing...there he was all proud-like pointing to the car (parked in the garage) and looking very proud of himself!!! Yes...this is pretty exciting for us, the fact that the garage is slowly getting organized enough that we are able to park the car in there.

With only a couple hours left in the retail world, we did go for a little drive to do some window shopping. We looked at some furniture, but in particular, dining room tables...yay!!! We now have a style in mind and it will just be a matter of finding the right one for the right price at the right time!!!

Movies we watched on Saturday night and both decent rentals:

RV

and

Luck Number Slevin

Supper with Friends From T.O.

Friday night Sue and Leo were in town and we were able to catch up with them for supper, a few drinks and a wonderful visit!!! Thanks again guys...it was so awesome to get to see you again and Leo, it was really nice to get to know you a bit better!!! Here are Sue (better known as Susie Q) and her fiance, Leo!!! Sorry about the terribly blurry photo :(

This past weekend two biggest accomplishments:

The building of the loft in the garage!!! Looks sturdy, seems to be holding and displaced all the "stuff" from the floor to the ceiling!!! Even after this... and much more organization...I have decided that the arranging and re-arranging of a garage is indeed a never ending task.

During this time...The great closet purge of Fall 2006 took place on Stacy's side of the closet!!! Yay!!!

Saturday was turned out to be a very productive "house day" chez O'Neil!!!

Our Reward: Dinner out at our local "Dinty's" (Rating: 7/10 food, 5.5/10/service) ... Then out for a few drinks and a bit of comedy at "Absolute Comedy"!!!

This weekend we thank:

The McPaps Res for good food, good company and sharing the wedding and honeymoon video with us on Friday evening!!!

Also we thank mama and papa McCready for a delightful Sunday super...DELICIOUS!!!

Darren - thanks for our latest donation towards reaching our funraising goal for the CIBC Run For The Cure!!!

I should mention that we got to see our very cute nephew Logan on Sunday as well...he is just 2 months old and growing SO fast!!!

Where am I From???

All the time people ask me..."so, where are you from"? Hahah...my least favorite question...but a good one. Where am I from? Well I didn't live in the town I was born in all that long... and I haven't been there in YEARS...we also moved around quite a bit between the US and Canada ...No, my parents were/are not fugitives...Dad is in the mining industry... so i never say I am "from" those places...

Anyway, I came across these photo's earlier in the week. They are of a place my parents and I lived for MANY years (nearly half my life I guess)...

It is a small mining community mining located on the northern tip of Baffin Island called Nanisivik (Inuktatuuk for: the place where people find things).

This is a photo of the town-site (summer). You can also see apart of the mill. And Yes...that is what we liked to call our waterfront property...Lancaster sound/the arctic ocean...

This is a photo (again of the town-site). Clearly its winter...but my guess would be it's nearing spring...it looks awfully light out to be the dead of winter LOL

Living in the North is definitely a different lifestyle. The years I spent there were probably some of the best. I learned so many things, saw things your average Joe will never see in a lifetime and it seems I have met a lot of pretty amazing people who's path I crossed while there. I've always said if you ever get the opportunity to see the north...DO IT. It is a magnificent and beautiful place (in it's own way)...

It's funny actually. I'm sitting here looking at these photo thinking....how on earth did I end up to be such a "city girl".

Anyway - Just wanted to post these for fun...!!! Thanks for looking and everyone ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!!

Totally HOT CHICKS!!!!

This Post is especially for my mama...who made a personal rescue to the poor little hens and chicks that you see below. Before their rescue, I sadly admit that they were on a dowhill road living inside with me. Their pots were too small and the light hardly adequate. The last time mama Light was in town she transplanted them into nicer, bigger pots and put them outside... They have since been thriving!!!

I am happy to report that ALL chicks have made it and we even have some new offspring since the transplant...YAY!!! Thanks mom...from me and from the totally hot chickadees!!! :)
